This outing pairs a waterfall with a farm museum, starting from the port in Akureyri. The road follows the Eyjafjörður coastline to Grenjaðarstaður, where a guided visit to the turf houses and museum explains how people in this part of Iceland used to live. Next stop is Goðafoss, on the Skjálfandafljót glacial river, with about 50 minutes at the falls. The stop includes a coffee and a kleina, plus free use of the restroom at Hotel Goðafoss. The drive out of Akureyri takes about 45 minutes and is guided, with views along the way. Back in Akureyri, guests can get off at the Botanical Garden, which ends the tour there. From the garden it is about a 15-minute downhill walk through the city center to the port, a popular option in good weather. Joining the Forest Lagoon is offered as an add-on.
