One-Day Tour from Montreal: Old Quebec Fortifications and Montmorency Falls by Bus
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
MontrealQuebec City is the only fortified city in North America, and its Old Town, with cobblestone streets and well-preserved 17th-century buildings, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This one-day tour from Montreal walks through it, past the Château Frontenac, Place Royale and the Petit Champlain district. The guide covers the city's politics, military past, architecture and heritage, and Quebec City's history of more than 400 years. The Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec, described as the oldest church in the Americas, is on the route, as are the Rue du Petit Champlain mural and the Breakneck Stairs. The Château Frontenac was designed by the American architect Bruce Price for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, as one of its castle-style hotels. Montmorency Falls are 15 minutes from Old Quebec. At 272 feet they are 30 m higher than Niagara Falls, and a cable car climbs to the top, with viewpoints and trails above. The admission ticket is not included, but the guide sells tickets on the coach. In winter the Ice Hotel, the only one in North America, can be visited. The group leaves from 1242 Rue Stanley in downtown Montreal, two minutes from Peel metro station. All sales are final.

Old Quebec
Quebec City is the only fortified city in North America and has more than 400 years of history. The guide presents it from several angles: politics, military affairs, heritage and architecture. In Old Quebec the group explores Petit Champlain, described as the oldest district in North America, where the Rue du Petit Champlain mural and the Breakneck Stairs are among the attractions. The Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec is known as the oldest church in the Americas, and its long history and close ties to New France make it one of Canada's most important national historic sites. The Château Frontenac was designed by the American architect Bruce Price at the request of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company (CPR), one of its series of castle-style hotels.
