Private 5-Hour Northwest Madeira Tour: São Vicente, Seixal, Ribeira da Janela, Porto Moniz
A private five-hour drive along the northwest coast of Madeira, paced slowly so there is time to look. The aim is to fit in a good deal without hurrying. Along the way the guide talks about the old days and about how local people lived and still live, with their culture and traditions, in the villages the route passes through. The road from São Vicente to Seixal is lined with waterfalls running down rocks and cliffs. The route also takes in valleys, rock formations, a black sand beach and rock pools. The first leg, about 45 minutes non-stop, reaches Ribeira Brava. Stops follow at the Água d'Alto waterfall near São Vicente, Seixal, Ribeira da Janela and Porto Moniz, where the volcanic natural pools are the main draw and an optional lunch break leaves time for a short walk. The itinerary can be tailored by prior agreement.
