Private Marangu Waterfalls Tour with Coffee Making, Banana Beer and Kikuletwa Hot Springs
This private day mixes a waterfall hike with a coffee lesson, a banana beer stop and a swim at the hot springs. Kilimanjaro is often visible from the region, and the views on the road are good when the clouds stay away. The Marangu Route is known as the path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, but the Marangu Waterfalls are a separate attraction in the same area, suited to the days before or after a trek. The short waterfall hike can be paired with a coffee tour or a visit to the local Chagga cave system. Ndoro and Monjo are the two most popular falls, though others lie nearby. The trail to the falls gets slippery, so proper hiking shoes are advised. The coffee part covers the whole process: picking, roasting, grinding and then drinking a cup of local organic coffee. Banana beer, brewed by local tribes in Tanzania, is on the program as well. The hot springs are the Kikuletwa springs, also called Maji Moto. From Arusha the drive takes two hours and passes markets and local farms away from the tourist trail. Guests spend a few hours in warm, clear water, swing on a rope swing, rest in the shade of the trees and eat local favorites such as chips mayai.
