Pickup is from the accommodation. The group drives to Chão da Lagoa, inside Funchal's Ecological Park, where a briefing and kitting up come before anything else. A short walk through the Laurissilva Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site, leads to the start of the watercourse. The Chão da Lagoa route runs down a mountain stream by swimming, jumping and rappelling. It has five rappels, the tallest 18 m (60 ft), and the waterfalls drop into clear pools. Experienced guides handle the ropes and the safety. No previous experience is needed. Participants bring a towel, a bathing suit, sports shoes that can get wet and a change of clothes. The rest of the equipment is provided. A short break for a snack and a rest is possible along the way. At the end the group is taken back to the accommodation.
