West Madeira Sightseeing Tour with Ribeira da Janela Swings and Porto Moniz Lunch Stop (12/12)

This western Madeira day trip strings together eight stops, from a fishing village on the south coast to a waterfall that falls straight into the Atlantic. It starts at Câmara de Lobos, where fishing boats fill a quiet bay under steep cliffs and bright houses line the shore. Cabo Girão follows with its glass walkway over the ocean; the entrance fee is not included in the tour price. Ponta do Sol, the sunniest spot on the island, has coloured buildings and a pier above the sea. Further along, a viewpoint at Ribeira da Janela has swings facing the ocean, and a walk nearby looks out over the large rock formations of the Ilhéus da Ribeira da Janela. In the Fanal area a path leads in among ancient trees. Porto Moniz is the main stop of the day, with time for lunch and a swim in the volcanic natural pools; the entrance fee for the pools is not included in the tour price. The last stop is the Bridal Veil, a waterfall dropping into the ocean, with a souvenir store close by selling local crafts.
