3-Hour ATV Ride South of Jaco to a 30-Foot Waterfall and Swimming Pool
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
PuntarenasThe ATV station sits 15 minutes south of Jaco, and the ride heads inland from there on mixed paved, gravel and dirt roads. The route passes hills, ocean views, cattle fields, small creeks and rivers, forest with varied vegetation and small rural towns, a stretch of everyday Costa Rican country life. Near the waterfall the ATVs stop and the rest is a 5-minute walk on a jungle trail lined with tall trees. The falls are about 30 feet high, with a natural pool below. Some riders jump in, others just swim and relax in the water. On the way back down, the group stops at El Tigre Sightseeing for photos of the panoramic valley views. A typical restaurant run by locals is there too, for drinks, snacks or a traditional meal in the mountain breeze. Timing matters on this one. The group needs to average about 38 km per hour to reach every stop within the scheduled time. If the riding is slower, routes may change and the waterfall may be dropped.

We take the route through the mountains on a rural public…
The route climbs through the mountains on a rural public road, past small villages, farms and tropical rain forest, on mixed gravel, dirt and paved surfaces. A stop at the waterfall allows a swim for anyone who wants one. When time allows, the group also visits El Tigre Sightseeing and its restaurant, a place to rest, take photos and buy a meal, snacks or drinks before heading down. (Riders need to average 38 km per hour to reach the stops on schedule. If the pace falls short, routes may change and the waterfall may be skipped.)
