4-Hour Jaco ATV Ride: Swimming Waterfall and Lunch at a Bijagual Tilapia Farm
This half-day ATV ride starts at the Adventure Tours Costa Rica base in Jaco and covers waterfalls, rivers, rainforest, countryside and small villages, with hidden bars and restaurants along the way. The route runs through the Agujas mountain range and reaches almost as far as Las Delicias. A 30-foot waterfall is the swimming stop. Higher up, the trail leaves primary rainforest for the top of the range, where a mirador just beyond the crest looks over the ocean: south to Manuel Antonio, west to the Nicoya Peninsula, north to Puntarenas. Lunch is in the quiet pueblo of Bijagual, after passing its church, soccer field and central saloon. The restaurant is El Paz Del Campo, a hidden tilapia farm where the fish can be caught from a gazebo above the pool. Kids can grab a stick and try their luck in the little pond. El Paz Del Campo is closed on Tuesdays, and an alternative is offered that day. After the meal the ride heads back through the same scenery to the headquarters in Jaco.
