The longest of the La Fortuna combos here, this day runs about ten hours and takes in four stops for groups of up to 10 travelers. The first is the Arenal 1968 Trail, named for the volcano's most significant eruption. The 3 km hike crosses solidified lava flows and areas now growing back, with a guide explaining the volcano's history and activity. Views of Arenal Lake and the Monteverde mountains come with it. Next is the La Fortuna Waterfall Reserve and its 210-foot waterfall. The hike goes 1,640 feet downhill to the base, and there is a natural pool formed by the La Fortuna River for swimming. All of the entrance fee goes to social projects in the community, such as schools, nutritional centers and infrastructure. Lunch is at Vida Campesina Farm, with Costa Rican dishes made from local ingredients, most grown on the farm, plus homemade produce and a cup of coffee brewed in the traditional style. The last stop is Mistico Park, 618 acres of rainforest with 15 hanging bridges between 16 and 330 feet long and a naturalist guide pointing out plants and animals. Snacks, lunch, a naturalist guide, hotel pickup and entrance fees are included. Gratuities and bottled water are not. The meeting point is the main office next to La Habana river bridge, or a hotel.
