This two-day trip to Ban Gioc uses a limousine van with comfortable seats for the whole route, with pickup and drop-off in Hanoi and groups of a maximum of 6 to 8 people. The route takes the expressway and then national roads along the Chinese border, the shortest way to Ban Gioc at about 6.5 hours, with several stops at villages along the way. The pickup is between 6:20 and 7:00, and the expressway to Lang Son covers 140 km. A break at 10:00 gives a view of rice paddies from a rest stop. After Dong Khe the road follows the border to a sugarcane village, where a visit to a local family adds half an hour. Lunch is in Quang Hoa town, about 35 km from the falls, and Ban Gioc is reached after a 50-minute drive. The afternoon, from 15:00 to 16:30, is at the waterfall with a 30-minute sampan ride close to it. The night is in a traditional house or bungalow, in a private room, with dinner at 19:00. The second morning starts with breakfast at 7:30 and 1.5 hours in Nguom Ngao Cave from 8:30. Then there is a climb of 300 steps to Ban Gioc Pagoda for a view over the falls and China, and a stop at the Thung Nang viewpoint on the way out. Lunch is again in Quang Hoa, and the van is back in Hanoi between 18:30 and 19:00.
