Ban Gioc Waterfall 3-Day Trip from Hanoi with Hotel Night and Angel Eye Camping
Ban Gioc sits in the Cao Bang region of northeastern Vietnam, 300 meters wide and 30 meters high, and falls in three steps. Its water comes from the emerald-blue Quay Son River, which rises in China and runs between limestone cliffs and rice paddies. The falls are well known on social media and easy to reach by road, yet outside weekends and public holidays there are few foreign or local visitors. This three-day trip from Hanoi splits the stay into a hotel night and a camping night. The first day is the long drive north, a local lunch, time at the falls (with a boat near the water, paid separately) and Nguom Ngao Cave, then check-in at a hotel near Ban Gioc at 16:30 and dinner at 18:30. The second day goes to Ban Gioc Pagoda for the view over the falls and on to Angel's Eye Mountain in Quang Uyen District, a peak with a hole through it, with lunch on the way. At the campsite the Cao Bang Camping team hands out tents and stores luggage. Evening options are a swim in the stream and stand-up paddleboarding (rainy season only, April to August), cycling at sunset, a shower in a house 300 m away, a barbecue dinner and a campfire where corn is roasted. Air mattresses and sleeping bags are prepared. The third morning starts with dawn at 6:00 and breakfast of pate bread or instant noodles with coffee, then a trek to the top of Angel's Eye Mountain. Tents are returned at 10:00, lunch is in Quang Uyen, and the trip is back in Hanoi at 18:30.
