Damajagua 7 Pools with Jesus and Jhensy, Taino Bay Pickup, Imbert Bridge Stop, 6 Hours

Los 27 Charcos de Damajagua is one of the best-known adventures in the Dominican Republic. It is a system of water canyons in rainforest, where visitors jump, slide and swim from pool to pool. On this tour run by Jesus and Jhensy, seven of the pools can be visited. Only those seven are open to visitors, even though the system has 27. Pickup is at a set point at the Taino Bay port, and the drive to the falls takes about 40 minutes each way. At the ranch, which is the starting point, the entrance fee is paid. That fee covers up to seven pools, a protective helmet and a life jacket, plus snacks along the route. An expert guide leads about four hours on foot and in the water, with time to jump and enjoy each pool. The whole excursion lasts six hours. Water, some food and drinks, the transport and a driver who speaks English are part of the package. On the way back the group makes a 15-minute stop at the Imbert Bridge in Puerto Plata and visits a store. A short tour of the center of Puerto Plata follows, with a chance to take photographs.
