Damajagua 7 Waterfalls with Damajuana Shot and Imbert Chocolate Stop, Amber Cove Pickup

Seven of the Damajagua waterfalls are the whole route on this cruise excursion from Puerto Plata. The falls sit in a tropical canyon in the hills of the northern mountain range, a natural monument inside the Dominican Republic's system of protected areas. Pickup is outside the Amber Cove port or outside the Taino Bay port, and the transport runs round trip from the cruise terminal. The drive passes roadside houses where people from the countryside sell papaya, mango and oranges, with a stop in Imbert for organic chocolate. At the visitor center, an open-air restaurant with a mountain view serves Dominican food and drinks. Shoes, protective gear, a life jacket and a helmet are handed out here, and local waterfall guides lead the group up to the seventh fall. The way back is the fun part: down through each level by jumping, swimming and sliding on natural waterslides. Only the seven-waterfall route is running at the moment. The remaining falls of the 27 are closed because there is not enough water. The meal at the end is a Dominican buffet lunch with water, a Coke and a damajuana shot. Equipment is included. Valuables, a towel, dry clothes and flip flops can stay in a bag on the transport, and only waterproof cameras should come on the hike.
