Damajagua Waterfalls and Monkey Home Puerto Plata, 4.5 Hours with Local Tasting
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Puerto PlataTwo stops share this half-day outing from Puerto Plata: the Damajagua waterfalls and Monkey Home, a place where monkeys can be watched in a natural setting. The whole trip takes about four and a half hours. At the falls, the route follows natural trails through tropical vegetation beside river pools. Depending on conditions and the group's level, there may be chances to swim and slide through some of the waterfalls. Helmets and life jackets are provided. Monkey Home is a viewing stop only. Visitors observe the monkeys from a distance from a designated area, with no physical contact. The same stop has a small tasting of local products, among them chocolate, coffee and mamajuana, and tropical fruit trees growing around the grounds. Pickup is from Amber Cove, Taino Bay and local hotels, with round-trip transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle from the cruise port. The price includes the entrance fee and bottled water. Meals are not included. Guiding is available in English, French and Spanish. A moderate level of fitness is needed. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller.
