This Damajagua trip is semi-private, with a maximum of 10 guests. The drive from Puerto Plata runs through green hills and rolling mountains to Damajagua National Park. There, the group puts on gear and follows tropical trails to the first seven waterfalls of the Damajagua River. The route ends with jumps, slides and dips in cool, clear pools. Two hiking styles are on offer. The slow hike is about 20 minutes of walking over uneven ground and rocky creeks, with slides and jumps optional. It suits children, older guests and anyone with mobility or health limits. The adventurous hike is longer and harder, over uneven surfaces and higher ground, and the slides and jumps are mandatory. Jewelry and expensive gadgets should stay behind. Pickup and drop-off, water, sodas, lunch and guided safety support are included. Guests should wear suitable footwear and bring swimsuits and towels. Damajagua is a public protected park, so park rules apply: the hike and the waterfall activities are done in groups with certified local park guides and are not private. Children under 6 can go only as far as the first waterfall, with a parent. The full 27-waterfall hike is a separate excursion and is not part of this one.
