Damajagua Waterfalls Tour from Hotels and Cruise Port, 7 Falls near Imbert
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Puerto PlataThe road to Damajagua runs through countryside where local people live, and the views along it are part of the trip: mountains, waterfalls and back roads away from the usual routes, with a photo opportunity at nearly every turn. The pickup is at a hotel or at the cruise port terminal. The river is the Damajagua, in the Cordillera del Norte, about 10 kilometers from Puerto Plata near Imbert. It has 27 cascades. Because of the state of the river, this program runs 7 of them. The salto de la Damajagua and its lagoons belong to a protected area in the Dominican Republic, and the visit is coordinated by the association of river lifeguards, who hand out vests and helmets for the natural pools. The program is built for visitors who want to see parts of the Dominican Republic away from the resort strip. The falls are close enough to Puerto Plata that the trip is easy to fit into a day. The river conditions decide how many falls are open, so the seven included here are the ones available in the current program.
