Damajagua Waterfalls with Dominican Buffet, Cruise Port or Hotel Pickup in Puerto Plata

The Damajagua waterfalls form a string up a tropical canyon in the hills of the northern mountain range behind Puerto Plata. The site was discovered only a few years ago and counts as a natural monument within the Dominican Republic's system of protected areas. The way up is on foot. The way down is by water: jumping from ledges, swimming under the falls and sliding. A guide climbs with the group and picks safe spots to jump from. Along the route the guide may explain the history of the falls, including legends that go back to the Taino people who first found the place. Helmets and life jackets are included. The meal is a Dominican buffet of white rice with red bean sauce, fried plantain, pasta in red sauce, fried chicken, grilled pork and Dominican salads, with bottled water. Pickup and drop-off are at the Amber Cove and Taino Bay cruise ports and at hotels, in an air-conditioned vehicle. Water shoes, lockers, photos and gratuities are not included. Up to 30 travelers can book together.
