Erawan Falls, Don Rak War Cemetery and River Kwai Bridge Day Trip by Private Car
This day trip is set by the clock. A private air-conditioned car collects travelers from the hotel lobby anywhere in Bangkok at 7:00 AM. At 9:30 the first stop is the Don Rak War Cemetery in Kanchanaburi, the final resting place of 6,982 Allied prisoners of war who died building the Death Railway in World War II. The bridge over the River Kwai, part of the same railway, follows at 10:00, with time to walk around town and take photos. The car leaves for Erawan Waterfall at 10:30 and arrives around 11:30. The seven-tiered waterfall belongs to a park that covers 550 square kilometers, and the second tier has a pool that suits swimming. The most popular activity there is trekking. The park also has bungalows, camping facilities and a daytime food market. Climbing to the 7th level takes good physical condition, and the higher levels can be slippery, so hiking shoes are recommended. Bring swimming clothes and a towel for the lower levels. The return to Bangkok starts at 15:30, with arrival at the hotel at about 18:30, subject to traffic. Private transport, a driver, drinking water, admission to Erawan National Park, fuel, parking and tolls are included. Lunch, coffee or tea, personal expenses, driver tips and optional tours are not. Up to 10 travelers can book.
