Rain has been cutting into Dominica's rock for thousands of years. The result is a set of deep gorges, each holding rivers, waterfalls and pools that stay out of sight in the rainforest. This half-day trip takes you down into one of them with the Extreme Dominica team. The outing runs about four and a half hours and is pitched at families as much as at thrill seekers. Everything needed for the water is supplied: a neoprene suit and jacket, a harness, a helmet and a lifejacket. Bring closed-toe shoes such as running, hiking or tennis shoes, which are not provided. A moderate level of fitness is required. A shared transfer covers the round trip. The meeting point is Peebles Park or Ma Boyd on Google Maps, or you can go straight to Extreme Dominica. Guiding is in English, and a booking takes up to 15 travelers. The tour is listed as the number one ranked tour in Dominica, and the operator calls it a bucket-list adventure. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
