Full-Day ATV Ride from Jaco: Waterfalls, Tulin River Lunch and a Pacific Beach Run
A full day on an ATV with a professional bilingual guide, aimed at the parts of Costa Rica away from the main roads: hidden waterfalls, rivers, seasonal trails and rainforest places most locals do not even know about. It suits solo riders as well as friends and family. The day starts in the mountains behind Jaco and stops at Cascada del Zorro, a 35-foot waterfall. Past the crest, a mirador looks over the ocean toward Manuel Antonio, the Nicoya Peninsula and Puntarenas. The ridgeline then runs toward the mountains around Playa Hermosa, and the trail drops through the La Gloria mountains to the Tulin River, with a riverside lunch stop in the small town of Mata de Platano. Afterwards the climb continues through the remote villages of Montelimar, Angostura, Pavona and San Gabriel, and through Las Delicias (population 39), known for its ATV and motocross rallies. The last mountain pueblo is Bijagual. From there the ride descends to a beach-side bar and finishes with a 2-kilometer run along the Pacific, with a view of the sun moving toward the Nicoya Peninsula, before the ride back to the headquarters.

The ride starts in the mountains directly behind Jacó and climbs about halfway to the peak, to the 35-foot Cascada del Zorro, a good spot to get a little wet and take photos. After a brief stop, the trail goes up through primary rainforest, above the canopy, to the top of the range. Just past the crest, a mirador looks over the ocean: south to Manuel Antonio, west to the Nicoya Peninsula and north to the port city of Puntarenas.
-
Quebrada Amarilla
A cool drink with the view, then on along the ridgeline for more views of the area. The primary rainforest leads toward the mountains around Playa Hermosa. After one more viewpoint, the route descends the La Gloria mountains toward the Tulin River and a riverside lunch spot in the small rural town of Mata de Platano. After lunch, a new climb passes through the small, remote villages of Montelimar, Angostura, Pavona and San Gabriel, then Las Delicias (population 39), known for its ATV and motocross rallies.
-
Catarata Bijagual
Each pueblo on the way has its own charm, and locals greet the group with a wave and a smile. Bijagual is the last mountain pueblo. Beyond it comes the final descent to a beach-side bar for refreshments before the beach run. A quick 2-kilometer ride along the Pacific Ocean looks across the Gulf as the sun moves toward the Nicoya Peninsula, with a chance for a drink before heading back to headquarters.
