Hacienda Ebano Double Waterfall Hike by 4x4 Safari Truck, Jade Waterfall Swim and Lunch
Hacienda Ebano is a natural reserve and ranch off the usual routes, 10 km (6.2 miles) from Playa Dominical on the road toward San Isidro. A small group travels the 10 km (6.2 miles) through the mountains in a 4x4 safari style truck, then walks a short rainforest trail to two waterfalls with natural pools. Views of mountains and ocean come with the trip. Birds, frogs and monkeys can turn up along the trail, along with many kinds of plants, flowers and trees. Local guides lead the group. The first waterfall has a pool carved into a single piece of rock by the water over hundreds of years. The second is wider and shallow in places. The day ends with a swim in the Jade Waterfall and a Costa Rican lunch wrapped in banana leaf, eaten beside the river. Guests should bring hiking shoes, tennis shoes or water shoes (no flip flops), a swimsuit and insect repellent.
What's included
- Costa Rican authentic farmer style lunch wrapped in banana leaves. We will enjoy it next to a waterfall

Hacienda Ebano
The trail through Ebano Natural Reserve is 1.6 km (1 mile) long, passes five streams and crosses two bridges. Colorful frogs, birds and monkeys may show up, depending on season and animal behavior, and the forest has tropical plants and huge trees. The trail ends at the Ebano Waterfalls, a double waterfall hidden in the rainforest. The first pool is 13 feet (4 meters) deep, a hole in a single piece of rock that is safe for swimming and deep enough to jump into from 8 meters (26 feet). The second pool is wider and ranges from very shallow to 2 meters (6 feet), which suits families with children.
