Krka Waterfalls Day Trip from Split with Licensed Guide and Skradin Boat Ride (11/11)

This day trip leaves Split at 10 AM and is back at 5:30 PM, so the whole outing takes about seven and a half hours. The drive to Krka National Park is roughly 90 km and takes an hour and a half each way, and no time is spent in Split itself. At Skradinski Buk, the longest waterfall on the Krka River, a licensed guide leads a 30-minute walk past the cascades, the centuries-old water mills, rolling mills and washing columns that show the local folk architecture. The route continues to an ethno-village that holds the Golden Flower of Europe award, where the guide explains the history of the falls and the park's wildlife, including 1,022 recorded plant species and a number of endemic, rare and threatened animals. Visitors can see the clear pools under the waterfall and its travertine formations. A boat then follows the river to Skradin, with swans along the way. The marina holds 180 boats, and the town was once a Roman municipality, later ruled by Venetians and Turks. An hour and a half is free for the town or for swimming at the beach.
