This day trip takes the road south from Marrakech to the Ourika Valley, 60 km away in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. The drive winds past red hills, terraced fields and olive groves, with Berber villages set against the Atlas peaks, and there is time at the roadside for photos. Once in the valley, a local guide walks the group through Berber villages and explains customs, history and daily life. A women's cooperative shows how argan oil is made by hand, from the traditional extraction to its cosmetic uses. The main walk of the day is a gentle hike to the Setti Fatma waterfalls, following the river, crossing wooden bridges and climbing gradually to the falls and the natural pools around them. Lunch at a riverside restaurant is optional and is not included in the tour price. The guide recommends places for tagines, fresh salads and homemade bread. The driver can be met in front of Cafe de France if that is easy for the traveler.
