An award-winning Niagara Falls company with more than 25 years of experience runs this afternoon-to-night tour. Pickup is at 1:00pm in Toronto or at 3:30pm in the Niagara Falls area, and a professional guide narrates the history and power of the falls during the drive. The Canadian side shows Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, with free time to explore at your own pace. A seasonal boat cruise gets close to the water, and Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Floral Clock, Queenston, Fort George and the Botanical Gardens are among the places on the route. In the evening the falls glow in changing colours. The nightly fireworks start at 10:00pm, typically from May through October and on New Year's Eve. Dinner is an optional upgrade: a buffet at the Fallsview Restaurant in the Sheraton on the Falls, looking out over the illuminated falls. When the boat tour is closed for winter, Journey Behind the Falls or the Skylon Tower views take its place. Pickup points are spread across Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville and Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the pickup time should be reconfirmed with the office the day before.

  1. Canada's Top Visitor Experience

The Voyage to the Falls boat tour lasts 30 to 40 minutes and sails from the Canadian side past the Niagara Gorge, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls to Horseshoe Falls. A mist poncho is provided, and a ride after sunset shows the illuminated falls.

  2. Table Rock Welcome Centre

Table Rock Welcome Centre has shops, restaurants, exhibits and an observation deck facing Horseshoe Falls. The complex also has the entrance to Journey Behind the Falls, with tunnels to platforms behind the water.

  3. Niagara on the Lake Heritage District

The Heritage District of Niagara-on-the-Lake is a place for a stroll and for shopping. Beau Chapeau, a hat shop, is the stop for 1920s and 1930s style.

  4. Floral Clock

The Floral Clock has a face planted with up to 16,000 carpet bedding plants, changed twice a year. Niagara Parks staff look after the plants and Ontario Hydro maintains the mechanism.

  5. The Welland Canal

At the Welland Canal, ocean-going ships with deep drafts make up roughly 20% of traffic and often sail the Great Lakes only part loaded. Filling a lock takes 9.4 million litres of water, moved by gravity alone.

  6. Niagara Whirlpool

The Niagara Whirlpool Rapids are downstream from the falls, where the river squeezes through a narrow gorge. The viewpoint shows swirling currents and whirlpools against the gorge walls.

  7. Niagara Scow

The Old Scow has sat near the brink of the falls since 1918, when it ran aground on the rocks. The crew was rescued, and the rusting hull still lies in the fast river.

  8. Living Water Wayside Chapel

The Living Water Wayside Chapel, the smallest chapel in the world, is a stop on the way from Toronto to Niagara Falls.

  9. Sir Adam Beck Generating Station

Sir Adam Beck I Generating Station has supplied renewable electricity to Ontario for nearly 100 years. When it opened on December 28, 1921, it was the largest hydroelectric station in the world, and over 10,000 people worked on it at the peak of construction.

  10. Dufferin Islands Park

Dufferin Islands is a quiet natural area, and the tour passes by it, so the islands are seen from the route.

  11. The International Control Dam

The International Control Dam, built by the United States and Canada together, regulates the flow of the Niagara River. It prevents flooding and keeps the supply steady for hydropower.

  12. Botanical Gardens

The route runs through the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, on the Niagara Parkway beside the Great Gorge, a 10 minute drive north of the falls. The Butterfly Conservatory is here, and so is the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture.

  13. Queen Elizabeth Parks

Queen Victoria Park, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, has views of both the Canadian and American Falls.

  14. Brock's Monument National Historic Site

Brock's Monument in Queenston honours Major General Sir Isaac Brock and the Battle of Queenston Heights. The 56-metre column, built in the 1850s, has 235 steps up to an observation deck with views of the Niagara River and, in the distance, the falls.

  15. Butterfly Conservatory

The Niagara Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Parks has thousands of free-flying butterflies in a climate-controlled tropical garden with flowers, plants and waterfalls.

  16. Fort George National Historic Site of Canada

Fort George National Historic Site in Niagara-on-the-Lake was built between 1796 and 1802 and is a restored War of 1812 fort. Visitors can see the barracks, the officers' quarters and the powder magazine.

  17. Buffet Dinner at Sheraton on the Falls

A buffet dinner at the Fallsview Restaurant in the Sheraton on the Falls is served to guests who booked the tour with dinner.

    Extra fee

  18. Niagara Falls Canada

The falls are in view throughout the tour. In winter the boat tour is closed, and Journey Behind the Falls or the view from Skylon Tower is the alternative.
