Rincon de la Vieja, the most voluminous volcano in Costa Rica, sets the scene for a day built around water. The first stop is Oropendola Waterfall, where a turquoise pool sits in a canyon and swimming is possible. The group then goes to the Rincon hot springs on the Rio Negro, which has more than 10 natural thermal pools rich in minerals. A volcanic mud bath follows: cover the body in mud, let it dry and rinse it off. The meal is a typical Costa Rican buffet made with local ingredients. Included are air-conditioned transportation, hotel pickup and drop-off at selected hotels only, and a trilingual guide working in English, French and Spanish. Gratuities are not included. The day lasts about seven hours, takes up to 12 travelers per booking and suits all fitness levels. Infants can ride in a pram or stroller and infant seats are available.
