Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech: Argan Breakfast, Optional Waterfall Hike, Lunch
On this guided day trip the hike to the waterfalls is optional, so travelers can choose between the climb and a rest by the river. The group leaves after the final pickup at 9:00 am and drives toward the High Atlas Mountains, stopping at a viewpoint over the Ourika Valley about an hour in. A women's argan oil cooperative comes next, with a mountain breakfast and a demonstration of the hand-grinding process. A visit to a Berber home shows daily life in the Atlas and the hospitality there. In Setti Fatma, the hike is a climb of about an hour and a half to the waterfall, while the alternative suits guests with knee or back issues. Lunch is served along the riverbank, with couscous, tagine or kebab as main dishes and a vegetarian option. The drive back reaches Marrakech in the early evening. The trip suits families, couples, solo travelers and nature lovers.

Marrakech
After the final pickup at 9:00 AM, the van leaves Marrakech and the noise of the medina, motorbikes and souks fades within minutes. The road opens toward the High Atlas Mountains. Red earth, olive groves and the first Berber villages appear along the way.
-
Tnine Ourika
About an hour into the drive, the first viewpoint overlooks the Ourika Valley. The river cuts through the valley floor, villages cling to the hillsides, and snow-dusted Atlas peaks rise in the distance. It is a place to stretch the legs and take the first photos.
-
Ourika
A women's argan oil cooperative welcomes guests with a mountain breakfast of fresh bread, local honey, olive oil and mint tea. The women then show how argan nuts become the oil known as liquid gold. Visitors watch the hand-grinding, taste argan products and sweet amlou, and hear how the cooperative supports local families.
-
Ourika Valley
Setti Fatma is the starting point of the Ourika waterfall hike, and travelers choose. Joining the hike means a climb of about an hour and a half along mountain trails and small bridges, past Berber homes and rocky cliffs, to a waterfall with fresh mist. Skipping it, which suits knee or back problems, means staying by the river to browse craft stalls or rest until the group returns. Everyone then regroups for lunch.
-
Ourika Valley
After Setti Fatma, the group has a traditional Berber lunch by the river. Fresh starters come first, then a choice of main dishes such as couscous, slow-cooked tagine or kebab, with a vegetarian option, followed by Moroccan desserts and mint tea. The sound of flowing water and mountain air surround the table.
