Private Hacienda Ebano Waterfalls Tour with Big Mango Lookout and Short or Medium Hike
A private visit to Hacienda Ebano, a natural reserve and ranch off the usual routes. Guests choose between a short hike of 1 km (0.6 mile) and a medium hike of 2.5 km (1.6 miles) through the rainforest to two waterfalls with natural pools. The trip also stops at the Big Mango Lookout, at the top of a mountain, for views of the ocean and the mountains. A 4x4 safari style truck covers the 10 km (6.2 miles) through the mountains. Along the way and on the trail there are birds, frogs and monkeys to look for, and many kinds of plants, flowers and trees. Local guides lead the day. From the lookout the view reaches Punta Dominical Bay, Caño Island, Diamante Waterfall and the blue mountains. A farm house stop is there for the restroom and for refilling water. The last stop is the Jade Waterfall for one more swim, followed by a Costa Rican lunch wrapped in banana leaves by the river. Guests should bring hiking shoes, tennis shoes or water shoes (no flip flops), a swimsuit and insect repellent.

It passes five streams and crosses two bridges, and colorful frogs, birds and monkeys may show up depending on season and animal behavior. Tropical plants and huge trees line the way. The Ebano Waterfalls, a double waterfall, wait at the end. The first pool is 13 feet (4 meters) deep, a hole in a single piece of rock that is safe for swimming and deep enough to jump into from 7 meters (20 feet).
