Private Rincon de la Vieja Hike and Oropendola Waterfall Swim with Hotel Pickup
This is a private guided hike in Rincon de la Vieja National Park. The Las Pailas trail is a 2-mile (3 km) loop through dense rainforest and open fields. Early on it reaches fumaroles, large holes in the ground that give off steam with gurgling sounds and a sulfur smell, and along the way white-faced, spider and howler monkeys and many birds may appear. A short walk from the park entrance then leads along the river to the 25-meter Oropendola Waterfall, which drops into a turquoise pool in the canyon of the Blanco River, with a swim possible. Included are hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional guide, bottled water, national park fees, an air-conditioned vehicle and a typical Costa Rican lunch. Gratuities are not included. Bring tennis shoes, comfortable clothes, repellent, sunblock, spare clothes, sunglasses, a hat, a camera and a copy of the passport. The minimum age is 7, a minimum of 2 people per booking is required, and up to 12 travelers are allowed. The day takes about eight hours.
