Rincon Volcano Park Trek, Oropendola Waterfall, Local Lunch and Volcanic Mud Soak

A full day on Rincon de la Vieja starts with a hike in Rincon de la Vieja National Park, where boiling mud pits, fumaroles and hot springs show the energy of the active volcano. Monkeys, toucans and other wildlife may appear on the trail. A short walk follows to Oropendola Waterfall, tucked into the surrounding forest. After the hike comes a local lunch, then a soak in natural hot springs and a volcanic mud bath. The whole outing takes place on Rincon de la Vieja volcano, including the national park for the trek. A guide and all activities are included, as is hotel pickup and drop-off at selected hotels only. Gratuities are not. The day lasts about eight hours and takes up to 10 travelers per booking, with guiding in English or French. A current valid passport is required on the day of travel. Moderate fitness is expected, and the tour is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and infant seats are available.
