Rio Celeste 5-Mile Hike with Teñideros, Hot Springs, Sloth Sanctuary and Meal
Departure is at 7:30 am. A legend says that God washed his brushes in this river after painting the sky, and the colours of Rio Celeste have a name to match. At Tenorio Volcano National Park the guide gives a short introduction, then a 5-mile hike starts through tropical rainforest with plenty of fauna and flora. The route visits Los Teñideros, where two streams of crystalline water meet and form the blue that gives the river its name. It also passes volcanic vents that release gases at extremely high temperatures, and there is a chance to take a dip in natural hot springs. The Rio Celeste waterfall is also on the way. After the hike comes a sloth sanctuary with wildlife in its natural habitat, followed by a traditional meal.
