This full day starts early on the Guanacaste coast and ends on an organic farm in Bijagua. Pickups from hotels, houses and condos run between roughly 6:00 and 7:40 am across Tamarindo and the nearby beaches, with a stop for coffee or breakfast before the three-hour drive to Tenorio Volcano National Park. The first stop is Llanos de Cortes, a waterfall in Bagaces with a pool at its foot. Guests can swim or walk around and look at the plants and animals. At the national park, the hike to the Rio Celeste waterfall takes about 2 hours and is rated moderately difficult. The trail crosses rainforest and follows the Celeste River. Heavy rain can occasionally turn the river brown. Lunch is a Costa Rican meal at a local restaurant in Bijagua de Upala. Afterwards the group walks through a rural organic farm that houses the Jungle Life Sloth Sanctuary, home to sloths rescued from various situations. The guide also points out frogs, snakes, birds, insects and tropical plants. Some pickup points carry a transport fee per booking, listed with each meeting point, and visitors staying near Bagaces or Guatuso can meet the guide at the sites instead.
