The day runs in four parts. It starts with a rainforest hike in Tenorio Volcano National Park to the Rio Celeste Waterfall, known for its striking blue water. A short guided walk follows, aimed at sloths, which are the main attraction, with a chance to see toucans, frogs, snakes and, with some luck, a Baird's tapir. Next comes La Abeja, a traditional local soda. A walk of about 4 to 5 minutes from the restaurant leads to a private natural swimming hole on the Rio Celeste. Guests swim there, then go back to the restaurant for a homemade-style Costa Rican lunch prepared by Costa Rican cooks. The last stop is a small farm at the foot of the volcanoes, where guests learn how coffee and cacao are grown and processed, taste Costa Rican coffee and sample cacao tea, dark chocolate and sweet chocolate.
