Sheppee Fun Tours: Emerald Pool, Trafalgar Falls and Morne Bruce, Dominica

Sheppee Fun Tours opens its day with a dip in the Emerald Pool. The 5.5-hour trip starts in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, follows the Layou River past pineapple and banana plantations to Trafalgar Falls, and ends above Roseau at Morne Bruce. The Emerald Pool is a waterfall-fed pool about a 15-minute stroll through the rainforest. Sunlight through the canopy gives the water its green-blue glow. At Trafalgar Falls the crew leads a 10-minute walk from the visitors' center along a forest trail to a viewing platform over the valley and the twin falls. The sulphur hot pools there are described as a place to relax. Roseau closes the day with the botanical gardens and the Morne, a high point with views over the city. A licensed English-speaking guide is included, along with a cooler of spring water, sodas and rum punch. Site entries are paid on the spot: 8 USD for the falls and 8 USD for the Emerald Pool. Other fees and taxes are not included. Moderate fitness is needed. The trip is not recommended for pregnant travelers, travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Infants sit on an adult's lap, and up to 15 travelers can book.
