Small-Group Canyoning in Dominica with a Qualified Guide, Beginners to Athletes
The operator has worked in Dominica since 2005, and the guide has held a professional qualification since 1998. That is the pitch for this canyoning outing: a small group, a family atmosphere and a professional approach to rivers and gorges that cut through the tropical forest. The gorges are broken up by waterfalls, and the water in the rivers is clear. The activity is adapted to each person's level, from beginners to athletes, so the pace is set by the group rather than by a fixed course. At least two guides go with every group, and a booking takes a maximum of eight travelers. Equipment is supplied: a neoprene suit, a safety harness and a helmet. A drink and cookies are included, and a waterproof digital camera is made available. Bring your own swimsuit and closed basketball-style shoes. Private transportation is not included. Swimming is compulsory, and so is good physical condition. The trip is not recommended for travelers over 65, pregnant travelers, or anyone with a spinal injury or poor cardiovascular health. Children from 6 can join when accompanied by an adult. The outing lasts about three and a half hours, with guiding in English and French.
