Small-Group Dominica Waterfall Day for 2-5 Couples: Ti Tou Gorge, Champagne Reef

CHIC keeps its Dominica departures small on purpose: most run with only two to five couples, at a relaxed pace, with local hosts instead of a high-volume group tour. The five-hour route takes in the Botanic Gardens, Morne Bruce, Ti Tou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls and a snorkel stop at Champagne Reef. The day runs through Roseau first. The Botanic Gardens are a drive-through, and Morne Bruce is a pause for fresh air and a view of the city. Ti Tou Gorge, where scenes of Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed, is a swim in a freshwater pool through a small gorge. At Trafalgar Falls the twin waterfalls are photographed from the viewing deck, and swimming is not part of this stop. Champagne Reef finishes the route with a snorkel over an underwater volcanic site, where warm volcanic bubbles rise beneath the swimmer. Transport is shared within the small group, and departures are timed around heavy cruise traffic, with planned stops to make the winding roads easier. Entry to the three paid sites and the snorkel guide and equipment are extra, about $20 per person for full participation, and alcoholic beverages are not included. Cruise passengers are asked to text 48 hours before arriving in Roseau. Moderate fitness is needed. Guiding is in English or French.
