Two of the best-known places in Bosnia and Herzegovina fit into one day on this small-group trip, led by a driver who is also the guide. Pick-up is at Dubrovnik hotels, and the vehicle is air-conditioned. The drive follows the coast past the peninsula and the Pelješac Bridge, then opens onto a view of the Neretva valley, with a stop for honey tasting before the border crossing close to Kravica. Waterfalls come first. Kravica is a large tufa cascade on the Trebižat river, about 25 meters high, in the karst heartland of Herzegovina, and a popular swimming and picnic spot in summer. The group has 90 minutes of free time there, so bring swimwear. After a drive of around 40 minutes comes Mostar, on the Neretva, where the UNESCO-listed Old Bridge Area holds the 16th-century bridge. Three hours of free time cover lunch and sightseeing. Plan for cash: the waterfall ticket is 10 euros per person and the Mostar tourist tax is 2 euros per person, and neither is included, nor are food, drinks or tips. It is a long day with at least 6 hours of driving and comfort stops each way. Guiding is in English or Spanish, the trip is not recommended for children under 3 or travelers with spinal injuries, and a valid passport is needed.
