Two-Hour Wild Plant and Wildlife Hike to Middleham Falls with a Local Forager

This is the short version of a forager's day in Dominica: two hours on the trail to Middleham Falls with a local naturopath who knows the wild plants. Along the way the guide explains what grows beside the path, what it is used for and how it ties into health and wellness, and adds some local history. Small waterfalls line the trail and give it a constant background of running water. The walk ends at a waterfall of more than 80 meters, with several natural pools for a cool swim. Wildlife is part of the route, and the guide points out what turns up. The group starts at the trailhead car park, which at the moment is also the site of an eco-hotel under construction. Private transportation is not included. The hike suits all fitness levels, but it is not recommended for pregnant travelers, for children under 5 or for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
