The Kololo people living in the area in the 1800s called Victoria Falls Mosi-oa-Tunya, 'The Smoke that Thunders'. The falls form the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe on the Zambezi River and are known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. Columns of spray can be seen from miles away, and at the height of the rainy season the water drops over an edge nearly two kilometers wide into a gorge more than one hundred meters below. The guided walk enters the rainforest created by that spray. The vegetation changes as the path goes in, with plant and bird life to look at, and the guide stops at several viewpoints along the way. The falls are in full flood between April and August, so a raincoat is advised for those months. A helicopter flight over the falls can be booked separately. Bottled water and all fees and taxes are included. Use of a bicycle is not. At least 2 participants are needed for the tour to run. Up to 15 travelers can book together, guiding is in English, and mobile or paper tickets are accepted. Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries.

  1. Victoria Falls

A guided walk through the rainforest at Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The path begins with a change in vegetation, since constant spray created this tropical rainforest. Plant and bird life line the way, and the guide stops at several viewpoints. Full flood runs from April to August, so a raincoat is wise then. A helicopter flight offers a different view of the falls.
