Aloha Sunshine Tours Road to Hana: Hotel Pickup, Picnic Lunch at the Black Sand Beach
Aloha Sunshine Tours runs this eight-hour Road to Hana day with pickup and drop-off at any hotel or resort on Maui. Local Hana Highway drivers handle the narrow, one-lane-bridge road in an air-conditioned vehicle, so everyone else can look out the window. Along the way they tell historical facts and Hawaiian legends and keep the mood light with stories. Rainforest and waterfalls fill the road. The stops are Ho'okipa Beach Park, Pua'a Ka'a State Park for a swim, Ke'anae village with Aunty Sandy's banana bread, rainbow eucalyptus, Hana Farms Roadside Stand, Kaumahina State Wayside Park and Hana town. Lunch is a picnic at Wai'anapanapa State Park, the black sand beach: a ham, turkey, roast beef or veggie deli sandwich, with turkey as the default if no order is placed. Bottled water, Hawaiian chips, the Hana Highway admission and the Pua'a Ka'a State Park admission are included. Breakfast, gratuities and towels are not, so bring a towel and some cash for roadside stands. Infants sit on an adult's lap, infant seats are available, and strollers are allowed. The tour suits all fitness levels, takes up to 14 travelers per booking and is guided in English.
