Full-Day Narrated Road to Hana Drive with Breakfast, Lunch and Black Sand Beach, 7 Hours
Hana lies only about 52 miles from Kahului, yet the drive takes around 2.5 hours without a single stop. The Hana Highway is narrow and winding, with 59 bridges, 46 of them one lane wide, and roughly 620 curves along Route 360, nearly all through tropical rainforest. Many of the concrete and steel bridges date from 1910, and all but one are still in use. This 7-hour narrated day follows the road along the Maui shoreline in an air-conditioned vehicle, with photo stops at the bamboo forest and the waterfalls, a banana bread stand at Ke'anae, and an hour at the black sand beach in Wai'anapanapa State Park with its caves and lava tubes. Water, chips, a breakfast and a lunch are included. Breakfast is Spam musubi or yogurt, and lunch is a turkey, ham or roast beef sandwich or a veggie wrap without cheese; choices are texted to the operator at (808) 374-2022 when booking. Tours booked the day before get Spam musubi and a turkey sub by default, and breakfast cannot be provided for bookings made after 3:00pm the day before. Gratuities are not included. Ho'okipa Beach Park
Windsurfers, kite boarders and surfers work the waves and shoreline winds at what is called the windsurfing capital of the world. It is also Maui's capital for threatened Hawaiian green sea turtles, with 200-pound turtles feeding along the shore and resting on the beach all day. A stop is possible on request: ask the guide.

The Keanae overlook and peninsula look over one of the largest taro farms in Hawaii.

Wai'anapanapa State Park
Maui's famous black sand beach, with cobalt blue water against black sand and black lava rock from a flow only 10,000 years ago. Walk the edge of the bay or sit under a shade tree for an hour. Freshwater caves and lava tubes can be explored, and at certain times of year red shrimp turn the water red. The guides tell the legend of Princess Popoalaea.
