This day trip from San Jose combines a walk around the Arenal Volcano area and La Fortuna Waterfall with time at Baldi Hot Springs. Arenal is the most active volcano in Costa Rica, so a crackling noise or smoke from the crater would not be a surprise. The relaxing part comes at the thermal pools: 25 pools set in tropical rainforest and filled by clear waterfalls, open to all visitors.
