Banff Day Tour: Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Moraine Lake in Summer, Bow Falls in Winter
This full-day tour covers Banff National Park's best-known stops, with pickup and drop-off in Calgary, Canmore or Banff. The route changes with the season, because Moraine Lake is only on it for part of the year. In summer (June to mid-October) the day includes Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Banff town and Johnston Canyon. Moraine Lake is visited only between June 1 and October 11, 2026, weather permitting. In winter (mid-October to May) the stops are Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Banff town, Bow Falls and Surprise Corner, which take the place of Moraine Lake while it is closed. The tour operator sends a reminder the day before departure with the finalised itinerary. Johnston Canyon is one of the park's most accessible hikes, with a maintained trail and catwalks through narrow limestone walls. In summer the falls run with glacial meltwater, and in winter they freeze. Lake Louise brings turquoise water and mountain peaks, with trails and canoeing, and the Bow Valley Parkway is a drive for elk, deer and possibly a bear. Time in Banff town is 45 minutes on the summer itinerary and 2 hours on the winter one. Lunch is at your own cost, in Lake Louise Village in summer and in Banff town in winter. Guides help with photos along the way.
