Don Chencho Waterfall and Natural Pool on Private Land, 5 to 6 Hour Small Group Hike
Don Chencho Waterfall sits on private property in the center of Puerto Rico, and the group has it to itself: nobody else is at the falls or the pool. The operator stresses that this is not a tourist trap. The trail is an easy forest path that goes up and down, and it is not in El Yunque National Forest. It ends at a natural swimming pool and waterfall, which is the destination of the hike rather than a side stop. The outing takes 5 to 6 hours in a small group and combines mountain scenery, a lookout over the Puerto Rican countryside, a stop at a local bakery in the Bayamón area, local culture and food, and swimming at waterfalls. The day finishes at Mimi's BBQ, a local restaurant, where guests pay for their own food. The operator describes the stop as the real deal, not touristy at all, with good food at a great price.
