Duke's Kayak Adventures Wailua River Kayak and Secret Falls Hike with Guide, 5 Hours
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
KauaiDuke's Kayak Adventures runs this guided outing up the Wailua River valley to Uluwehi Falls, also called Secret Falls. A professional guide leads the paddle through waterways that Hawaiians hold sacred, then the hike through lush tropical forest, and tells myths, legends and bits of Hawaiian history along the way. At the end is a waterfall of about 100 feet where guests swim, take photos and have a snack and some rest. The outing lasts about 5 hours, and a backpack-style dry bag is provided. The hike covers roughly two miles of rocky, muddy and slippery terrain, so secure shoes are required (no flip-flops), and age limits are 13 to 69. Not included are lunch, drinking water, hotel pickup, gratuities and the Hawaii State fee of $5 per person and $10 per car. Departures leave right after check-in and late arrivals cannot join. The check-in point is a shopping plaza on Kuhio Highway in Kapaa. The tour often sells out because state regulations cap its size; the sister company, Kauai SUP, rents paddleboards and kayaks for the same river and falls without a guide.
