Huleia River Kayak and Hidden Valley Falls Hike from Nawiliwili, Motorized Canoe Return

Tandem kayaks go down the Hule'ia River, from the Outfitters Kauai Kayak Shack at Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor, into jungle with steep cliffs, rainforest and wildlife on both banks. Expert guides lead the group to the parts of the valley that visitors rarely reach: cascading waterfalls and swimming holes reached on foot. The return needs no paddling. A traditional twin-hulled motorized Hawaiian canoe carries everyone back, and the whole outing takes about 3.5 hours. The two-person kayak, local taxes, cold bottled water and the guides are included, with roughly one guide for every 8 to 12 passengers. Wear swimwear and wet-ready footwear with an aggressive tread, such as Teva-type sandals or aqua socks, and bring a towel, sunscreen, insect repellent and a waterproof camera. A minimum of 4 passengers is needed for a departure, and a booking can hold up to 5 travelers. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The outing is suited to all fitness levels. Hotel pickup and gratuities are not included, and guiding is in English.
