El Yunque Convoy Hike from Fajardo: Waterslides, Waterfalls and Cliff Jumps

The convoy is what sets the logistics of this one. Guests meet the guide in the Farmacia Caridad parking lot in Fajardo, sit through a 20-minute safety briefing and introduction, then drive their own cars behind the guide to a rainforest access point. Rideshare and taxis are not recommended for this part. The meeting spot can shift by up to 5 miles (8 km) depending on access conditions, and the guide calls ahead before the tour. From the access point the hike is short, about 15 minutes through jungle trail. It ends at a natural river pool, and the next three and a half hours are spent in and around the water: swimming, sliding down natural rock formations, resting by the waterfalls and, for those who want it, jumping from a cliff or using a rope swing, weather permitting. The guides take photos and video, and tell guests about the forest on the way. Afterwards the convoy drives back to the starting lot, about 15 minutes. Snacks, water, life jackets, photography and videography, entrance fees and parking are included. Transportation is not, though full transport can be arranged 24 hours ahead for an extra fee. Wear swimwear and closed-toe shoes with good grip, and bring a towel. Crocs, sandals and flip-flops are not allowed. The tour takes about 4 hours and is guided in English and Spanish.
