Six stops fill this full-day Guanacaste route, which starts early: pick-up is at 6 am in Coco. First is Llanos del Cortés, the most popular waterfall in the area, with room for photos, a swim or a picnic. A horseback ride follows through the humid forest on the slopes of Miravalles Volcano, passing indigenous sites and a wide range of wild fauna. A mountain trail shows red frogs, butterflies, sloths and many birds. At the volcano a guide explains how geothermal and solar energy are produced, and guests visit the burners, a small version of a crater where volcanic activity can be watched safely, and collect volcanic mud for the skin. The ThermoMania visit adds natural hot springs rich in minerals, saunas, jacuzzis and mud pools, an exclusive spa for the tour's guests and lunch at an artisanal restaurant. A coffee, cocoa and chocolate stop of about 1 hour 30 minutes passes through four stations: medicinal plants, sugar cane, cocoa and coffee. The swim stop is at the waterfalls of Miravalles Volcano, cold turquoise water from underground.
