Full-Day Tumpak Sewu Waterfall and Goa Tetes Cave Trek from Malang with Local Guide

Tumpak Sewu is in Lumajang, two to two and a half hours from Malang depending on traffic, and this day trip is built around reaching it on foot. The car leaves from pick-up points in Malang city around 7:00 and passes Jodipan colorful village without stopping; the driver or tour leader tells the village's story on the way. Mount Semeru, the highest point on Java, shows up along the road, and a 5 to 10 minute photo stop is possible. At the site the car parks, there is a short rest, then a 10-minute walk to the panorama viewpoint and a 50-minute downhill trek to the base of the falls. The route continues past Tetes waterfall and Lost LeBlanc's infinity pool to Goa Tetes, a cave with water that local myth says keeps a face looking young. A climb back to the parking lot closes the hike, and the car reaches Malang again around 17:30. Private transportation, a local guide, entrance fees, parking, fuel, bread and mineral water are covered. Meals, tips and photo documentation are not. Pack a change of clothes, mountain sandals, a hat, sunscreen, a towel and cash. Moderate fitness is needed; the trip is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with back or heart problems.
