The drive from Siem Reap runs to the foot of Kulen Mountain, where the Khmer Empire began in AD 802. The road climbs past stone cliffs and mountain views to the hilltop. From there a walk leads to the River of a Thousand Lingams, whose bed is covered in Shiva linga carvings, and visitors can receive a blessing in the Cambodian way with the holy water of the river. Further up are the pagoda and its Reclining Buddha, then the waterfall, where the swimming stop lasts about an hour and a half. Lunch is included and is a set menu at a restaurant, with a one-hour break. The day closes with the village of Preah Dak and an optional visit to the Cambodia Landmine Museum, whose entrance fee is not included. Fees and taxes, an English-speaking guide, an air-conditioned vehicle, chilled bottled water and wipe towels are covered. Bookings are limited to 6 travelers, and the tour suits all fitness levels. Guests are collected from about 8 am for an 8:30 am departure.
