Phnom Kulen Waterfall Day Tours from Siem Reap
20 day trips from under 30 to more than 120 EUR, typically 30 to 60. Several of the 20 listings include the park ticket and several do not, so the cheapest price is not always the whole price.
Nine of the 20 Phnom Kulen day tours from Siem Reap are among the cheapest, and the cheapest, at under 30 EUR, is also the most reviewed, with 2,696 of the page's 5,809 reviews. The catch sits in the inclusions list. Several listings include the park ticket and several leave it out, so the price on the card and the price you pay can differ by more than a lunch. This page reads the 20 tours as products: what each format includes, what moves the price, which days run to ten hours and which promise three, and how to choose. The mountain's history and rules are on the Phnom Kulen page.
Read the table and the chart together. The table says what each format buys, and the chart shows that price follows the format, not the clock. The part about the ticket is the one to read twice, and the table says "not included" only where the listing itself says so. Where a listing is silent, we say that too, and the ticket row for the one private Banteay Srei tour is an example.

Phnom Kulen waterfall day tours: what the 20 listings sell
Fourteen of the 20 tours are shared or small-group departures and six are private. Fourteen operators sell them, and one, Siem Reap Shuttle, holds 48% of the reviews. The ratings are lopsided in a way worth knowing. The cheapest join-in has 2,696 reviews and the tour that adds Beng Mealea and the Tonle Sap lake, under 60 EUR, has 1,179, which together are two of every three reviews on the page.
Two tours carry two of every three reviews here. The 4.93 describes them.
Every listing includes a hotel pickup, and the departures are early: 7:30 to 8:30 for most, with one operator allowing 9:30 as the latest.
Ten formats in one table: read the ticket column
We opened twelve listings in full and read the inclusions as well as the titles. The table keeps the ten that differ most. A price here is the listed price, and where a private tour is priced by the vehicle the table says so.
| Format | Price band | Hours | Park ticket | Lunch | On the day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Join-in, up to 14 guests | Under 30 EUR | 8 | Not included | Yes | Lingas, Buddha, waterfall with a picnic |
| Small group | 30 to 60 EUR | 8 | Included | Yes | Cliff viewpoint, lingas, Buddha, waterfall |
| Small group with Beng Mealea and Tonle Sap | 30 to 60 EUR | 10 | All admissions included | Picnic | Palm sugar village, jungle temple, floating village |
| Short small group | 30 to 60 EUR | 5 | Not included | No | Buddha, lingas, waterfall; the listing quotes a 2-hour drive |
| Kulen with Banteay Srei | 30 to 60 EUR | 8 | Not included, nor the Angkor Pass | No | Banteay Srei; lunch at your own cost |
| Private vehicle | 30 to 60 EUR by vehicle | Up to 10 | Not included | No | Guide costs extra |
| Private jungle trek | 60 to 120 EUR | 7 | Admission included | No | A hike of about 3 hours up from the foot |
| Jeep tour | 60 to 120 EUR | 7.5 | Not included | Lunch and snack | Palm sugar village, US army jeep |
| Private with Banteay Srei | 120 to 250 EUR | 3 as listed | Not stated; temple pass not included | No | Listed at 3 hours, with Banteay Srei |
| Dirt bike | 120 to 250 EUR | 8.5 | Included | Lunch | Honda XR 250R, helmet and gloves supplied |
Add the park ticket to the cheapest tour and you land in the range of the small groups that include it, so the price gap is mostly the ticket. The cheapest tour can still be the right choice. A 4.9 on 2,696 reviews is a strong record, and a lunch of rice and fried chicken at the waterfall is part of it. Just do not compare it with the small group that includes the ticket before you add the ticket. Two more small groups in the 30 to 60 EUR band, with "park entry" and "all tickets" in their titles, also include it; the table keeps the formats that differ most.
Banteay Srei
Adding Banteay Srei means a second ticket
Some of the 20 tours add the pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srei, which listings put 25 to 37 km north of Angkor Wat. It needs an Angkor Pass, which is sold by the day; check the current tariff. A listing for the small-group version says so plainly, and the Kulen fee is paid in cash on the day.
That puts two tickets on top of the tour price. Once they are counted, it is the most expensive of the small-group tours on the page.
The price chart
What moves the price
The chart plots each tour by length and price. Hours do not set the price. Eight shared tours of 8 hours or more cost under 60 EUR, and they are the biggest cluster. The tours above them are different products: a jeep in the 60 to 120 EUR band and a dirt bike in the 120 to 250 EUR band. Private tours run from roughly 30 to 250 EUR.
The oddest dot is the 3-hour private tour at 120 to 250 EUR, which pairs Kulen and Banteay Srei. Other listings put the drive alone at 1.5 to 2 hours each way, so read that duration as an error until the operator says otherwise.
A day by the clock
A day tour is built around the road, and the road is built around 11:00. The table lays out the day from the listings and the operators' guides.
| Time | What happens | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 7:30 to 8:30 | Hotel pickup in Siem Reap | Most listings; one allows 9:30 as the latest |
| Before 11:00 | Last vehicles go up the one-way road | Kulen Revealed, an operator |
| Late morning | Lingas, Buddha and waterfall; lunch beside the fall | Listings for the cheapest join-in and the Beng Mealea tour |
| About 11:45 | Road reopens for the descent | Kulen Revealed |
| 4:00 to 6:30 pm | Back at the hotel | Listings for the Beng Mealea tour and a 7-hour tour |
A tour that leaves after 9:30 risks the closure. A tour of 5 hours or less assumes you will spend most of it in the vehicle. The Beng Mealea tour is the long one: 10 hours with Beng Mealea and a floating village, back at about 6:30 pm.
Jeep, dirt bike and trek: when the ride is the point
Three formats are adventure tours with a waterfall at the end. The jeep, in the 60 to 120 EUR band, runs a US army jeep through villages and a palm sugar stop, with lunch and a snack, and leaves the ticket to you. The dirt bike, in the 120 to 250 EUR band, includes the ticket, a Honda XR 250R, helmet and gloves, and is rated 5.0 on 43 reviews. The trek, in the 60 to 120 EUR band, is a private day that hikes about three hours from a pagoda at the foot of the mountain, includes admission, and offers guiding in seven languages, more than any other listing we opened. Meals on the trek are extra.
How to choose a Phnom Kulen day tour
Choose a small group with the ticket and lunch included, in the 30 to 60 EUR band, if you want the mountain with no surprises. Choose the cheapest join-in if you are comfortable in a larger group and will add the ticket yourself. Skip the 3 and 5 hour listings unless the operator confirms the time on the mountain. Look at the private vehicle, in the 30 to 60 EUR band, if you are three or four, since the listing prices by the vehicle and shows 3-seat, 6-seat and 12-seat options. A guide costs extra. Take the trek only if you want to walk: every other format reaches the mountain by vehicle.
If you want Kulen alongside the Angkor temples and would rather one operator ran both, the multi-day packages put Kulen on its own morning between temple days.
Mistakes that cost money at Phnom Kulen
The costliest is comparing sticker prices. A tour under 30 EUR with the ticket extra and one in the 30 to 60 EUR band with it included are not far apart. Next is the pass confusion: the Angkor Pass does not cover Kulen, and a tour that adds Banteay Srei needs both. A late start is the last one, since the uphill road shuts at 11:00.
Questions about Phnom Kulen day tours
How much is a Phnom Kulen day tour?
Day tours run from under 30 to more than 120 EUR, typically 30 to 60 EUR. Most shared tours cost 30 to 60 EUR, private tours roughly 30 to 250 EUR, and the jeep and dirt bike 60 to 250 EUR. The park ticket is not always in the price, so read the inclusions.
Is the Phnom Kulen entrance ticket included?
Sometimes. At least 6 of the 20 say in the title that it is included and 3 that a ticket or pass is extra; for the rest, read the inclusions line. Where it is extra you pay in cash at the gate. The small group with lunch (up to 6 guests), the tour with Beng Mealea and the dirt bike include it.
What time do Phnom Kulen tours leave Siem Reap?
Pickups run from 7:30 to 8:30 for most listings, and one operator allows 9:30 as the latest because the uphill road closes at 11:00. Listings put the drive at 1.5 to 2 hours each way, so a late start can fail.
Can you swim at the waterfall on a day tour?
Yes, most listings include time at the pools and lunch beside them, and ask for swimwear. In full wet-season flood the lower fall is described as extremely powerful. The Phnom Kulen page has the season and the water.
Should I book a private tour or a small group?
A small group with ticket and lunch, in the 30 to 60 EUR band, is the better value for one or two people. A private vehicle is priced by the vehicle and suits three or more, but the guide costs extra. The other private tours run roughly 60 to 250 EUR.
Can I combine Kulen and Banteay Srei in a day?
Yes, at least two listings do, one shared in the 30 to 60 EUR band and one private in the 120 to 250 EUR band. The shared one needs two tickets on top of the price: the Kulen park ticket and a one-day Angkor Pass for the temple.
Want Kulen inside a temple trip?
The multi-day packages run two to five days, with Kulen on its own morning between temple days.
